Hastinapur Sanctuary

The Hastinapur Sanctuary's wildlife population includes the swamp deer, chital, nilgai, wolf, leopard, hyena, gharial and wild boar. The rich biodiversity of the forest has always been a topic for research and study for the students of botany and zoology.Hastinapur National Park enjoys rich faunal wealth on account of the varied types of ecological niches existing in the reserve. Mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians (frogs & toads) butterflies and fishes. Among the invertebrate groups are Centipedes, the Scorpions, Odonata (dragon & damselflies), Isoptera (termites) and Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera (wasps, bees, etc.) which comprises more than 60 species.
